If you've had a near miss on your farm, you're one of the lucky ones. Others weren't so fortunate. From January 2015 to March 2016, WorkSafe NZ have investigated 23 agriculture-related deaths in New Zealand. Young, inexperienced agricultural workers? No. 18 of these victims were over the age of 40. 11 were over the age of 60. These were not new guys on the block. These were seasoned farmers, doing what they've done every day for 30 years. New Zealand has introduced the Health & Safety at Work ACT 2015 for this very reason, so that everyone can go home safely, every day.
